On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, our most loved, Thomas “Tom” Anthony Salango of Hurricane, formerly of Beckley went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family. He was 72 years young.

Tom was born on August 11, 1945, in Beckley, WV to the late Joe Salango (Deceased) and Elizabeth McEwan-Salango (Deceased). Tom attended Lincoln Elementary School, Beckley Junior High and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1963. Tom had a long career for the C&O Railroad and retired from Norfolk and Southern as an electrician foreman.

Tom loved spending time with family and friends. He was an avid golfer and won many tournaments. After his retirement his passion for golf lead him to Scarlet Oaks Country Club at Poca, West Virginia, where he worked and maintained the golf course. Where you saw Tom you saw his best friend, “Shank.” They were always on the tractors together. Tom never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his smile and willingness to help others.
