Jesse was born August 13, 1931 in Wabash County, Illinois, the son of Everett and Lula (Clark) Higginson. He married the love of his life, Mary Joan Orr, in San Diego, California on August 11, 1951. She preceded him in death on August 29, 2012.

Survivors include one son, Michael Higginson of Mattoon; 2 daughters, Micki (David) Quinn of Bettendorf, Iowa; Nanette (Brian) Clemons of Decatur; 6 grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Clemons of Bloomington; Cameron (Ed) Coller of Port Richey, Florida; Molly (Neil Eichstadt) Quinn of Sioux Falls, S. Jesse served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Arthur Masonic Lodge, Arthur American Legion, and the Arthur United Methodist Church. He served as a Boy Scout Leader for 30 years and was presented the highest award that can be earned, the Silver Beaver Award.

He retired from Illinois Power Company after 28 years and then worked as a school bus driver and a gas line locator.

If you were to have stopped in to see Jesse, he would most likely be listening to his favorite country or gospel music or investigating the inner workings of an object.

Jesse loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild. He also enjoyed attending church services and the Farmer’s Café at the Home.

Thank you to the staff at Eberhardt Village and the Arthur Home for all the care given to our dad.

Memorials are suggested to the Arthur United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 74, or Parkinson’s Research Foundation.
