Woodrow Allen Jr. was born on October 19th, 1949 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Woodrow Allen, Sr. and Lula Mae (Manus) Allen Sr. He was raised in a busy household of seven brothers and attended school, graduating from Tahlequah High School in 1967. While in the high school, he played trombone in the school band. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and served honorably from 1968 until 1970 with the 27th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the Tahlequah area and began his studies at NSU. Woodrow was a uniquely talented artist. He was happiest to be around the family he held so dear. He was quiet and never really tried to draw attention to himself. He was proud of his Cherokee and Navajo ancestry. He passed from this life on January 13th, 2018 at the Sulphur Veterans Center. He was 68 years old. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and two brothers, Perry Wayne Allen and Jeff Allen.
Those left to celebrate his life include his brothers, Richard L Allen and wife Shelley Butler-Allen of Tahlequah, OK; Gary Allen and wife, Carolyn Kay of Tulsa, OK; Gerald Allen of Tahlequah; Curtis Allen of Oklahoma City; and, Marvin Allen of Tahlequah, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
