The son of Esta and Homer Dixon, Sr., Jim was a child of the Dust Bowl Era, graduating from Guymon High School in 1941.
He served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific as a B-25 pilot and was shot down March 2, 1945. He was awarded the Silver Star for rescuing his crew.
After the War, Mr. Dixon completed an engineering degree on the GI Bill of Rights at Oklahoma University. He worked worldwife for Fluor Corporation for 38 years, building refineries and their supporting communities, living in England, Holland, Taiwan and Algeria. He was working in Iran at the time the U.S. Embassy was seized in 1979.
He retired as a Vice President at Fluor. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and traveler.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer E. Sr. and Esta Dixon; and his brother, Homer E. Dixon, Jr., all of Guymon.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Margaret; sons, Michael Reck Dixon and Thomas Harold Dixon; three grandchildren; three great-granchildren; brother, Richard C. Dixon, and sister Floy Marie (Mickey) Nash.
Local memorial services will take place Sat., March 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel with Rev. James A. Jacobson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officating. Memorial services were held at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas on March 21, 2007. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon on March 31, 2007.
