He is supposedly son of Joseph Blackiston and Mary Stephens per old SAR/DAR applications.

BIRTH: His birth year is estimated based on his age (68y) in his obituary. His place of birth was given as DE per the 1880 census of his son Henry but MD by son John.

MARRIAGE: ca 1806 Not found for first wife Henrietta. I believe her maiden name was Eagle since her son's name was James Eagle Blackiston and they had a neighbor James Eagle.

NEWS: July 10 1804 RSM Joseph Blackiston Jr. has a letter remaining at PO Chestertown Per MD Eastern Shore Newspaper Abstracts 1790-1805 Vol 1 by F. Edward Wright (This is likely the same Joseph since if the father was still living he would be called Joseph Jr.)

CENSUS: 1810 could be in Hagerstown.

DEED: 1843. Joseph Blackiston and Anna his wife to Sarah Jane Ashley 4 3/4 acres of "Yearly's Beginning" May 29, 1843. (his will says shse is his daughter)

WILL: Joseph Blackiston of Kent Co To my son Henry Blackiston all my lands with all my personal property forever excepting my negro girl Eliza Ann under the condition that he pay each of my sons and daughters James E. Blackiston, John T. Blackiston, William C. Blackiston and Henrietta B. Count $300 at $30 annually. If any die without heirs then to be retained by Henry. To my wife Ann Blackiston over and above her right of dower in my estate the above mentioned negro Eliza Ann during her life and after the death of my wife to be free. [Freedom pass granted to Eliza Ann June 24, 1856, written in margin]. As I have already deeded a part of my farm and given some personal property to my dau. Sarah J. Ashley I consider that she has her full portion of my estate. If there shall be brought against my children or accounts then it is to be deducted from legacies of $300 each. PARENTS: He is probably the son of Joseph of DE. A letter from Zella Henry Blackiston wife of Franklin (1892-1971) says that Joseph Sr. had a son Joseph Blackiston who married and had descendents. If he was born in DE in 1782 it doesn't explain how if his father moved to DE in 1796.
