Mary's Story
Mary Ellen Abel, age 100, passed away Monday January 1, 2018 at Heritage Hall in Tazewell, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert F. Abel and Nanny Hilt Abel, one brother and eight sisters.
She is survived by her brother Robert F. Abel, Jr. of Tannersville, VA; three nieces Katheryn Blevins of Seven Mile Ford, VA, Betty Ruth Dungan and husband A.L. Dungan of Seven Mile Ford, VA, and Patty Monk Smith of Cary, NC; two nephews, John Michael Monk of Tannersville, VA and Ed Monk and wife Robin Monk of Taylor Valley, VA; several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Friday January 5, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Bailey officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 6, 2018 at the Neal Family Cemetery in Tannersville, VA.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tannersville Rescue Squad.
