Dortha Marie Braidfoot, age 79 of Newlin, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Chad King officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Dortha was born on March 21, 1938 in Hall County, Texas to Owen and Pearl (Stone) Proffitt. She and Eddie Braidfoot were married on March 30, 1957 in the chapel at West Texas State University. She loved to ride with Eddie, just going and looking at all the sites.

Dortha was a Christian woman, and was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the Adult 4 Sunday School class. She was a good cook, and delivered for Meals on Wheels for many years. An outgoing and caring person, she loved to visit with her friends and went to coffee on a regular basis. She showed compassion and care to others, checking on sick friends and neighbors and helping however she could.

A hard worker, Dortha worked at First Bank and Trust in Memphis for over 40 years. In her downtime, she loved watching ball games, “The Price Is Right” and “Let’s Make A Deal.” Above all else, Dortha loved her family, attended all of her grandsons events, and celebrated their accomplishments with pride.

Dortha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eddie, one son Sammy Braidfoot, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include a son, Eddit Braidfoot and wife, Cindy of Childress;
2 Grandsons, John Braidfoot of Spearman, and Matthew Braidfoot and wife, Makenzie of Lubbock;
Granddaughter, Heather Braidfoot of Dallas;
Great-grandchild, Ky Braidfoot of Lubbock;
Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church or to Childress Meals on Wheels.
