Maddalena was born on Oct. 25, 1930, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Luigi and Antonetta (Guerrera) Calabrese. Before marrying Nick, Maddalena worked as a secretary at the Oakville Pin Shop. She also worked for the Waterbury School Department and, for several years, she colored photos for Albini studio photography after her children were born. Maddalena enjoyed baking, decorating cakes, doing crossword puzzles and cooking for her family, but found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She was a former treasurer of the Judith Lane Condo Association.
She leaves a daughter, Catherine Mancini and her husband, Paul, of Oakville, with whom she made her home; two brothers, Joseph Calabrese and his wife, Loretta, of Southbury, and Ralph Calabrese and his wife, Edith, of Middlebury; two grandchildren, Robert Mancini and his fiancée, Mindy Davidson, and her children, Evan and Kara Davidson of Oakville, and Laura Mancini and her fiancée, Bryan Crighton, of Oakville. She was predeceased by a son, Nicholas Mark Guerrera Jr., and a sister, Rose Barra.
