He grew up and attended school in Blair, Nebraska.
After school he married Jonnette Hubel, they had one daughter and later divorced.
He worked as a farrier until the loss of his leg and recently as an equine dentist. He loved being around horses and made countless friends over the years in the horse industry.
He served his country in the United States Navy.
