Rev. Samuel Newhouse was born abt 1791 in Wythe County, Virginia; son of Isaac Newhouse, a Rev War patriot, and Catherine Van Pelt.

In 1810-11, Samuel and his father removed from Washington Co, VA to Franklin County, Indiana Territory, along with Samuel's sister Nancy Newhouse Williams. On 19 Dec 1811 in Franklin County, Indiana Terrority, Samuel first married Martha "Patsy" Sandifur, daughter of Robert Sandifur (a Rev War patriot) and Winifred Bailey.

Samuel served as private in Indiana 7th Regiment under Capt Elliott Herndon, along with brother-in-law George Williams and brother James Newhouse during War 1812. About 1814, Samuel purchased land in the small township of Columbia, Fayette Co, Indiana which he sold in Aug 1820 to his brother-in-law George Williams, after he and wife Patsy moved to what is now Sangamon Co, IL. Patsy Newhouse d. about Jan 1832 in Sangamon Co, IL.

Samuel second married Martha Nance on 18 Mar 1832 in Richland, Sangamon, Illinois. Martha died in Sangamon Co, IL before Samuel married for a last time to Jane Parvin on 21 Oct 1835 in Sangamon County, Illinois. In 1837, Samuel purchased land and moved to La Porte Co, Indiana and lived near to his nephew James Williams. Samuel's son John Green Newhouse was a coroner for La Porte Co in 1842, and his daughter Nancy married Francis M Russell 1837 in La Porte Co.

About 1841, Samuel moved to Clinton Co, MO and purchased land near Plattsburg. Samuel died in Clinton Co, MO intestate before 17 Dec 1844, where his son Benjamin Franklin Newhouse was administrator to Samuel's estate. No burial record of Samuel has been found, although presumed buried in Plattsburg old cemetery which was active by 1842.
