Robert ‘Bob’ Folsom Sr.

With heavy hearts we share the passing of Robert “Bob” Folsom Sr., of Post Falls, Idaho, on Monday, Dec. 25, 2017.

Bob was born in 1941; the son of Archie Clarence and Mary Isabelle (Caverty) Folsom. One of five children, Bob grew up happily hunting, swimming, fishing and riding horses. Graduating from Greeley High School in 1961, Bob participated in track, basketball, football and glee club.

Enlisting after graduation, Robert Lee Folsom was an Airman Second Class, who served in the U.S. Air Force honorably from 13 September, 1960 to 10 June, 1964. During his time of service, Robert was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.

Stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, Bob met his wife of 53 years, “Bonnie” (Yvonne), and settled in Post Falls to raise a family. Employed with Kaiser Aluminum as a lead man on the hotline maintenance, many lifelong friendships developed during his 30 years with Kaiser.

Bob was a loving and generous man who was very proud of his children: Tracy Folsom, of Post Falls, Robert Folsom Jr. and wife, Catherine, of Spokane, Wash., Charity Ward and husband Jeffry Ward, also of Spokane, and adopted son, Dean Spratt, of Liberty Lake, Wash. Bob also loved his beautiful grandchildren, Kody, Taylor, Jordyn, Ben, Nicole, Kimberly, Erica, Colleen and Samantha.

Bob is survived by his wife; brother Clarence, of Georgia; sister Floretta, of Kansas; his children; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Predeceasing Robert are his parents and siblings Rosie and Sherman.

A simple man who fulfilled his dream of raising a beautiful family in a beautiful home with a gorgeous lawn, Bob and his wife, Yvonne, loved to go camping on the “Joe,” where they would spend time with family and friends riding ATVs, getting firewood and spending time around the campfire. A man who loved God, his county and family, Bob was a “one-of-a-kind,” kind hearted, generous man, a loving husband, a fantastic father and a great friend to have. Bob was loved by many.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Post Falls Baptist Church, with a reception to follow. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude for the loving care Robert received at Kootenai Medical Center/ICU, for which we are extremely grateful.
