Edward L. Peters Sr., age 97 of Trail Creek, IN and passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Arizona Royal Ranch Assisted Living facility in Surprise, AZ.

Ed was born June 8, 1920 in Mishawaka, IN to Medar and Catherine (Weinkauff) Peters who preceded him in death.

Ed is survived by his daughter: Suzanne Peters of Buckeye, AZ; grandchildren: Angelique Peters, Ann (Marty) Venit , Sherry (Dan) Uzelac and Kathleen Layba; ten great-grandchildren; sister: Catherine Couch. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: LaVerne (Osos) Peters; son: Edward Peters Jr.; daughter: Deborah Peters; sister Margaret Mahar and longtime partner: Jewel Axsom.

Ed was a member of Queen of All Saints Church. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. He worked for 30 years at Conrail. Ed was commander for VFW Post #2536 for many years. He also belonged to American Legion Skwiat Post #451 and was a life member of the Belgian Club of Mishawaka. Ed loved to fish and travel to attend annual reunions for his Army unit.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM (Rosary @ 6:30 PM) at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home located at 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN and Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Queen of all Saints Catholic Church located at 606 S. Woodland Ave. Michigan City, IN from 10:30 to 11:00 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Queen of all Saints Catholic Church with Father Kevin Huber officiating. Full military honors will be presented at the Church.

Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN at 1:30 PM CST.
