John Harold Drew Sr. age 80, passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2017 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 AM on Friday, December 22, 2017 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney.
He was born March 1, 1937 in Olney, the son of Harold and LaVeta (McConnell) Drew.
He later married Shirley Ann Drew on April 2, 1959.
John was currently employed at O’Reilly Auto Parts. He was very proud of his hometown of Olney and was instrumental through several groups and organizations in helping develop many projects to make it better.
During his lifetime John possessed many skills and a variety of careers. He traveled hundreds of miles to many places, but Olney has always been his home. First and foremost, He was always a salesman and took great pride in giving exemplary customer service. He never knew a stranger and always had a story to tell, but was more than willing to listen to a good story too. He loved to talk about or brag about his family. He knew cars inside and out. Many a person relied on his knowledge to keep their cars on the road.
John is survived by his wife Shirley; children, John Jr. of North Carolina, Angel (Ed) King of Olney, Michael of Olney, and Vincent of Florida; grandchildren Casey (Jessika) King of Alton, Jake (Amanda) King of North Dakota, Ben (Amanda) King of Claremont, John Derek Drew of Florida, and Alex Drew of Olney; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Jaiden, Bayley, Brody, Tristen and Tyson King and Jaysie Highsmith and Hoyt Drew; many nieces and nephews and sisters Janice Creed of Colorado, Elaine (John) Hipsher of Mt. Carmel, Carolyn Peach of Mt. Carmel and Judy Hoover of Georgia.
