Mr. Donald M. "Bud" Currie, age 94, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Trillium Woods in Byron Center. He was born September 17, 1923, to James Russell and Mary C. (Denhof) Currie, and married IdaBelle Vollmer on April 25, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muskegon Heights, MI. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2015.

Don graduated from Muskegon Heights High School, and served his country in the Navy. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft in California building P-38 fighter jets, Norge in Muskegon for 12 years, and retired from Bastian Blessing in Grand Haven. Don was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spring Lake where he worked on the church festival, and served as his wife's "right hand man". His other interests were watching sports in person or on TV, fishing, bicycling around town (11 miles even at the age of 91) and most of all spending time with family.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Barbara (Robert) Dodde of Grand Rapids, Donna (David) Michael of Sarver, PA, David Currie of Au Gres, Mary (David) Tait of Bloomfield Hills, and Marcia Bolks of Mesa, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Dolores Vandak of Muskegon; 2 brothers, Merle (Sandy) Currie of Gainesville, TX and Robert Currie of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lyle Currie, sister, L. Maxine Currie, sister-in-law, MaryJane Currie, daughter-in-law, Karen Currie, son-in-law, Carl Bolks, and brother-in-law, Albert Vandak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. David Gross officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church, with military honors provided by the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Mary's Catholic Church Mary, Light of Learning Capital Campaign Fund or Disabled American Veterans are appreciated.
