Bess was the d/o Theodore Linus and Julia Ella Wade Williams. She had one sister, Lou Ella Wade and two brothers, J. Neil and Robert. Her mother died when she was 5 years old and Bess was taken to her father's sister, Nettie Wagoner, to be raised in Bethany, MO. While living with Aunt Nettie, Bess attended a music conservatory in Lexington. MO. She later returned home to care for her father and Neil. Robert had left home some years earlier and no one knows whatever became of him. Bess married Paul Vanderpool July 28, 1916 in Trenton, MO. Later they moved to Melbourne, MO where their two daughters, Frances Maxine and Grace Lillian were born. She had five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She passed away of breast cancer in 1961. Bess loved to sing. She spent many hours singing with her five grandchildren in her backyard lawn swing in Rocky Ford on early summer mornings as they listened to mourning doves cooing. She was the best!
