Robert Lamar Smith, age 86, of Dexter, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Dexter Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was a retired radar technician for the Warner Robins Air force Base. He was a specialist in the Korean War. Mr. Smith loved life to the fullest and was an avid fisherman. He was also a member and Deacon of the Dexter Baptist Church. He was married to his loving wife for 64 years. Mr. Smith loved his grandchildren, great grandchildren and was loved by many nephews, nieces, and other friends, especially his fishing buddies Alvin and Donna Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Della Braswell Smith, sisters, Gladys Alligood, Myrtle Knight and Bessie Mae Gust, brother, Alvin Smith and daughters, Janet and Becky Smith.
The Deacons of Dexter Baptist Church and Matthew Shanel will serve as pall bearers.
