Azalee Cook Stockard, 86, of Boone died Friday, January 27, 2012 at Watauga Medical Center.

Mrs. Stockard was born August 5, 1925 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Wade Edward Hampton and Lucille Critcher Hampton. She was retired nurse, working for over 20 years, for Dr. William Smith. Mrs. Stockard was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stockard is survived by a son, a daughter, four grandchildren, a brother-in-law and one nephew. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Cook and second husband Charles Stockard; sister, Betty Joe Watson; a son-in-law Bill H. Miller, and a niece.

A Memorial Service was conducted Sunday, January 29th, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, with Reverend Bud Russell officiating with Linda Shoemake assisting
