Billie Marie Miller was born January 9, 1923 on the Rafter 3 Ranch in Coleman County, Texas, a daughter of J. P. "Jake" Miller, Sr. and Mary J. Jameson Miller. She grew up on the ranch, attended school in Coleman, graduating from Coleman High School in 1940. Billie Marie was the first Rodeo Queen for the Coleman Rodeo in 1937 and again in 1939. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and Texas Tech University. On September 20, 1942 she married William H. "Bill" Miller in Coleman and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1987.

Billie Marie and Bill moved to Rapid City, S.D. in 1947 where they ranched until 1986, when they returned to Coleman. While living in South Dakota, Billie Marie was a rancher, a homemaker, worked in Occupational Therapy and was an active member of First Baptist Church. After returning to Coleman, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Coleman County Water Board, Garden Club where she served as president and Cattlewomen's Association, also serving as president.

She is survived by three daughters, Marie Miller of Coleman, Ann Miller of Apache Junction, Arizona and Julie Miller Shaw and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister, Ann Miller Hargett and husband James of Coleman; five grandchildren, Jason Best, Sara Best Gonzales, Callie Best, James Shaw, John Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Daniel Joseph Shaw and Connor James Shaw; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, William H. Miller II and a brother, J. P. "Bub" Miller.
