Dorothy Dean Pynes Baker Ogden, 86, of Longview, Texas, departed this earthly home for a glorious homecoming in Heaven on Novemeber 15, 2016.

Dean was born July 27, 1930 as the first born to her parents, Clifford and Lorette Pynes in Cunningham, Texas.

Upon graduating from Cunningham High School she began her college training at East Texas University in Commerce, Texas. Her college career was put on hold when she married her first husband, Samuel Davis Baker on October 16, 1948. In April of 1952, Dean & Davis welcomed their one & only child, a daughter, Loretta Jane Baker.

Dean & Davis lived in Wink, Texas & many other towns of West Texas all while making a living with Stanley Oil Company. Sadly, in April of 1957, Dean's first husband died leaving her to raise their daughter as a single parent.

Dean, with the support of her family went back to East Texas University and completed her Bachelor's degree in education. Her first & only job was teaching fourth grade at Pine Tree Elementary in Longview, Texas. After teaching 27 years, Dean retired from Pine Tree in May of 1987 .

In July of 1984, Dean married, Frank E. Ogden of Longview, Texas. They had eight wonderful years enjoying their retirement years together before Frank deceased in October of 1992.

Through many losses and disappointments, Dean always relied upon her unwavering devotion to her Lord & Saviour to sustain her. She loved her church, Greggton First Baptist, where she was a member for 56 years. Studying & sharing God's word was always first in her life. She taught the very first married couples class & then a ladies class for over 54 years at Greggton First Baptist in Longview, Texas.

Dean had many interest in her lifetime such as oil painting, sewing, & music. At a very young age she taught herself to play the piano and she used that talent playing for her small hometown Baptist church. In her teen years she sang with a high school all girl's quartet singing on the radio in Paris, Texas. While singing in several Pine Tree Teacher variety shows, she became known for her love of singing the "Blues" with such songs as Stormy Weather, Saint Louis Blues & Bill Bailey. She was also a member of her church choir for 56 years.

Dean is preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel Davis Baker and Frank E. Ogden, her parents Clifford & Lorette Pynes, and her brother Charles Buddy Pynes.

Those left to honor and cherish her Christian legacy are her daugher, Janie & husband Mike Hawkes of Longview, Texas, grandson, Brian & wife Jana Hawkes of Edmond, Oklahoma, granddaughter, Alicia & husband Collin Sharp of Ovilla, Texas, three great-grandchildren, Peyton Hawkes, Grant & EllaJane Sharp. Dean is also survived by Franks' children, Richard & Wynell Ogden of Flatonia, Texas, Suellen & David Simpson of Marshall, Texas, Ann & Larry Robinson of Los Vegas, Nevada, grandchildren David and Penny Barber, Meredith and Wendy Ogden, Jon Ogden, Amy and Jason Romig, Michael and Allison Simpson, Matt Simpson, Megan and Brad Litteken, Shawn and Eden Robinson, Larry Robinson, Jr., Brittany Robinson, and Shea Robinson and 15 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Sue Pynes of Paris, Texas, brother-in-laws, Charlie & Jenita Baker of Pattonvile, Texas, Ronnie & Linda Baker of Paris, Texas, sister-in-laws Donnie & Charley Lewis of Bogota, Texas, Ann Baker of Cunningham, Texas, Roslain Baker of Biloxi, Mississippi, Nell & Wayne Pell of Paris, Texas, Bea & Buster Boutwell of Paris, Texas and numerous neices & nephews.

Services are at Greggton First Baptist in Longview, Texas on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am, one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made to Greggton First Baptist Church of Longview, Texas.
