Lillie Mae Cooey Johnson, 77, of Clyde, was welcomed into God's loving arms on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Methodist Richardson Medical Center after a short battle with cancer.

Visitation will be Friday, November 24, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Highway 277 South in Abilene.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Lillie was born October 15, 1940 in Hubbard, TX to Johnnie and Jessie McPherson-Cooey.

She grew up at the Waco State Home in Waco, TX.

After graduating from American Commercial College, she made her career in bookkeeping at Dixon Drilling.

After retirement from the Texas Environmental Quality Agency, she stayed busy with her grandkids, canning, and the casino.

Lillie also took up tax preparation at H&R Block and bookkeeping at Parker & Associates until her passing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie & Jessie McPherson-Cooey, son George Gregory Jr., brothers, Bill Cooey & James Ray Baldridge, and sisters, Evelyn Smith & Alta Irwin.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Richard Johnson, daughter's Joyce Gregory, of West, TX and Sharon Bruton and husband Howard of Waco, TX; son William Allen Gregory of Waco, TX; step-daughter Penny Kelly of Valparaiso, FL. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Crystal Webb (Jason) of Waco, TX, Richard Allen Burton (Jennifer) of Waco, TX, Ben Burton (Monika) of Waco, TX, Garryn Young of Okaloosa Island, FL, Nathan and Maria Gregory of Waco, TX: and 6 great-grandchildren Paige & Rode Chapman, Landen Webb, Ashlynn, Joseph, & Rudy Burton. She is also survived by brother Norman Cooey and sisters Edith Walpole, Linda Weeks, & Lorretta Cooey.

Pall bearers for the service will be Allen Bruton, Ben Bruton, Rode Chapman, Jason Webb, Nathan Gregory and Allen Gregory. Honorary Pallbearers will be Landen Webb, Joseph Bruton, and Rudy Bruton

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Susan G Komen East Central Texas at PO Box 6217, Tyler, TX 79711
