Mary (Bartley) Kierepka, 85, from Charleston, TN, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017. In Chattanooga, TN she was a long-time resident of Haskell, TX. A memorial service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Trinity Baptist Church, Haskell with Rev. Stephen Winner officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
Mary was born March 17, 1932 in Haskell, to Nancy (Essary) and Benjamin White. She married John Cleveland Bartley on November 18, 1950 in Haskell, TX, and was a joint owner of Bartley’s Grocery; a once long-standing family business. Mary later married Walter Kierepka on July 01, 1974 in Haskell, TX. She worked as a cook at Sky View Living Center.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathie Joyce Whitener and husband Tony of Charleston, TN, and Marilyn Sandra “Sandi” Swartz and husband Gary of Santa Fe, TX; son, David Earl Bartley of Chattanooga, TN; two stepsons, Daniel “Danny” Anthony Kierepka of Haskell, TX, and James Michael “Mike” Kierepka of Haskell, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Mae (Essary) White; father, Benjamin Luther White; husband, John Cleveland “J.C.” Bartley; husband, Walter Daniel Kierepka; daughter, Karen Lynn (Bartley) Howeth; step-daughter, Carol Jo Jones; four sisters, Minnie Walker, Katherine Clem, Lorene Burke, and Flossie Garvin; and four brothers, Thelon Jones, Alvin White, Frank White, and Harvey White.
