OBITUARY- The Journal, Bruce, MS, Oct. 11, 2017
Leonard Cruthirds, Jr., 74, departed this life Oct. 3, 2017 at Baptist Calhoun Nursing Home in Calhoun City. He was born Feb. 11, 1943 in Calhoun County, the son of Leonard and Fairy Cruthirds, Sr. He served as chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Supt., bus driver, choir member, singing "Don't Cry For Me" and a faith member of Bryant Chapel Church until his health failed.
Survivors include his children; Leonard Sinatra (Rochelle) Cruthirds of Big Creek; Shelia (Felix) Hubbard of Calhoun City; Shameeca (Jason) Potts of Tupelo; sisters, Mae Ellen Loyd of Phoenix, IL; Mary (Joe) Williams of Oxford; Leola Rose of Bruce; Dorothy (Grafton) Hall of South Holland, IL; Bobbie (Eddie) Anderson of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Justin Herrod, Jaylin Cruthirds, Tashanti Herrod, Amaya Herrod, Khloe Cruthirds; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, and long time best friend, Wiley Glass. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mable Hobson Cruthirds; his parents and sisters, Kate Armstrong and Kathleen Hardwell.
His funeral service was Sat. at Bryant Chapel MB Church, with Pastor Anthony Edwards officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny Armstrong, Oddis Barr, Kenny Glaspie, Edward Earl Petty, David Petty, Roney Petty and Rickey Rose. Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
