Cline's Rites Set Saturday

Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Chester Chapel of the Arner Funeral Homes for Lawrence L. Cline, 73, of 530 California Ave., Chester, who died Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Fox Nursing Home after a lingering illness. The Rev. Donald Bell of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church of Chester will officiate. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Mr. Cline was born in East Liverpool May 8, 1897, a son of Alias Cline and Mary Mills Cline. He was retired chief and charter member of the Chester Fire Department, was a past member of the Chester City Park Commission and at one time was park superintendent. He served as Fourth Ward councilman for 16 years, during which time he also headed the Chester Water Works. In 1968 he retired as plant superintendent at the New Castle Refractories. He was 32nd - degree Mason and was a member of Chester Masonic Lodge 142, Hancock County Chapter 14, Royal Arch Masons, the Chester 142 Club, Weirton Pilgrim Commandery 30, Knights Templar, Osiris Temple of Wheeling and the Northern Panhandle Shrine Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Anna Cline, in September 1956. He is survived by three sons, Lawrence L. Cline, Jr. and Lewis W. Cline, both of Independence, Ohio, and John H. Cline of Beaumont, Tex.; four daughters, Miss Juanita Cline, at home, Mrs. Kenneth (Rose) Ibbs of East Liverpool, Mrs. Harold (Esther) Smallwood of Bunker Hill, W. Va., and Mrs. Clifford (Margaret) Comm of Chester, two brothers, David Cline of Newell and John Cline of East Liverpool, 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 tonight, Friday afternoon and night.
