Irene "Granny" Brewer, 94, of St. Joseph, was called into glory on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Heartland Medical Center, St. Joseph.
Mrs. Brewer was born March 3, 1912, to Yance and Lucy Williams. She married Oliver Brewer Sr.
She worked many years doing various jobs before her retirement at American National Bank and was a faithful member of First Baptist Mount Union Church, affectionally known as "Mother Brewer." Until her health started declining, she served on the Usher Board and headed many church functions.
Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her parents, Yance and Lucy (James) Williams; two brothers, Ancy Williams Jr. and Herbert Jones; three sisters, Francis, Gertrude and Blanche Williams; and a grandson, LaDell Boggess.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by her children and their spouses, Virginia (William) Stillman, Oliver Brewer Jr., Katherine (Donald) Boggess and James (Mary) Brewer; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members.
Funeral services were held at First Baptist Mount Union Church under the direction of Bullock Family Funeral Chapel. Interment: Ashland Cemetery.
