Mr. Philander Hale in the 83rd year of his age. Mr. Hale was born in Washington Co., in this state. Since his early manhood he has been a resident of this town, and for more than 53 years has been identified with its interests. In the home and the community he has been a potent factor for good. Under his helpful guidance children have come to an honorable estate. His strong hold upon the confidence of the community was evinced by the large attendance and devoted interest manifested at his funeral. The services being conducted by pastor Townsend of the Baptist church. To Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Clark of Cleveland, Ohio, and the other members of the bereaved household as well as Mrs. Hale upon whom this burden of sore bereavement so heavily rests. Bereaved as she is in the ripeness of age, of the honored society of him, who for more than 56 years, has been the strong staff of her life journey, in all of this, loss and loneliness, we tender our sincere sympathies, pointing each to the Great Healer and desiring for each, "the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness."
