Marvin W. “Bud” Buettner, age 86, of Shawano, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Shawano. Born on February 11, 1923 in the Town of Richmond he was the son of the late Bernard and Minnie (Peters) Buettner. Bud graduated from Shawano High School in 1941 and served in the United States Navy for four years from 1942-1946. On February 15, 1947, he married Maxine Hartman in Bowler, WI. The couple lived in Shawano until 1959 when they moved to Milwaukee and lived there for 30 years where Bud worked as a machinist for Lubke Automatic Screw Machines Products. They eventually returned to Shawano in 1992. Bud was a member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano where he served on the Property Board.

Bud is survived by: two children; Laurel (Dean) Sauerbrei and Gregory Buettner both of Shawano; 3 granddaughters; 6 great-grandsons; and 3 great-granddaughters.

Bud was preceded in death by: his wife, Maxine; his parents; two brothers; Ruben and Clarence Buettner, and three sisters; Irene Fritz, Florence Splinter and Alice Zaddack.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. James Naumann officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #117 at the church following the service. Entombment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
