Born in the Town of Richmond, and lived there until 1951 when he moved to Gresham. He owned and operated a milk farm and was a janitor at the Gresham School for 11 years, until retiring in 1976. He also served as janitor for his church.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran congregation in Gresham, and sang in the church choir. He was a former member of the Gresham Lions Club.
At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
