Thomas Ward
Born about 1814 in Rockingham Co., Virginia. Son of Robert Ward and Nancy Smailes

Sharon Rose Ward Hart several years ago, indicated.
"Thomas and his father Robert (Snr) settled on Little Beaver Creek. Thomas later settled on Ward Mountain between Glen Morgan and Sullivan. On Oct. 16 1845 Thomas was granted 50 acres on War Ridge in Fayette Co., VA (Land Office Treasury Warrent #2612.) There are a number of deeds in Fayette and Raleigh Counties for Thomas, the last March 21 1889 (L.531) where Thomas' son Gilbert will take care of his father [Thomas] and [son/brother] George."
Gilbert died 1913. But a look in 1880, 1900 and 1910 census doesn't show brother George living with Gilbert so for whatever reason, Gilbert apparently didn't uphold his end of the agreement.

NOTE: This is all research done by Sharon Rose Ward Hart, with many thanks for her sharing and communicating with the cousins.

Husband of Maria Harriet (Morgan) Ward — married 8 Feb 1832 in Greenbrier Co., VA
