Smoaks - Leonard J. Linder, 75, of 5205 Berea Road, Smoaks, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 in Buckhead Advent Christian Church, with the Rev. J. E. Lyons officiating. Burial will be in Little Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Linder was born in Bamberg County, the son of Willie L. and Siller Kinsey Linder. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Buckhead Advent Christian Church. He was a member and twice past master of Smoaks Masonic Lodge #231, having been a Mason for 40 years. He was a member of Ruffin Chapter #142 Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are his wife, Vivian Garvin Linder; sons, Michael and Steve Linder, both of Smoaks, and Robert Linder of Sanford, N.C.; daughter, Mary Jennings of Sanford, N.C.; brothers, Wilson W. Linder of Smoaks, and Tommy Linder of St. George; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brice W.
