Louis Henry Dennis was the son of Joseph Dennis and Julia Sago Dennis, and was of French Canadian extraction. As a young man, he worked at a bible factory in Saginaw, Michigan, later he worked as a logger and farmed his own land, near Ellsworth, in Antrim Co., Michigan.
He married Nellie Jane ODell, she was the daughter of pioneers in northern Michigan, Hiram ODell and Anna Mellissa Wood. Nellie Jane and Louis were the parents of twelve children.
Louis passed away in 1915 at the Traverse City State Hospital, Grand Traverse Co., Michigan at the age of fifty-three.
