Edith Mae Schnoebelen, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at Living Center East, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral mass will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2017, at St Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Podhajsky officiating. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7pm on Thursday, September 28. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Survivors include; son, Steve(Janet) of Naperville, Illinois, daughter, Diane Schnoebelen-(Mark) Kramer of Cedar Rapids, daughter, Lisa(Terry) Tow of Springfield, Illinois, sister, Nora Burgess of Marion. Five grandchildren, Kati and Kevin Schnoebelen, Derek and Kristin Kramer, Amber(Adam) Craig, and one great grandchild Chandler Craig.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton H. Schnoebelen, sisters, Edna Bosier of Cedar Rapids, Grace Sersland of Decorah, and brother, Wes Monserud of Monona.

Edith Mae Monserud was born on May 18, 1929, in Harpers Ferry, the daughter of William and Mabel Monserud. She grew up on a farm in Harpers Ferry and enjoyed the Iowa farm lifestyle. Edith graduated from Waukon High School. As a young adult she moved to Minneapolis, and returned to Cedar Rapids to make a home.

Edith loved to dance and met her future husband, Clayton, at Danceland in Cedar Rapids. She married Clayton Schnoebelen on January 4, 1954.

Over the years she worked at the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Kohl Insurance Agency, Kirby, and Barron Motor Supply.

Clayton and Edith were faithful members of Immaculate Conception Church and attended daily mass there.

Her hobbies included attending her children’s/grandchildren’s athletic events, watching old movies, bowling, and spending time with siblings and friends. She was an accomplished bowler with several games over 200, and she was especially proud of her high game of 2S3. She enjoyed traveling, with a trip to London and Paris as a highlight. Her family pets Snoopy, Happy, Sammy, and Max held a special place in her heart. Edith will be missed by her family in her roles as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

A memorial fund has been established.
