Isaac Carlock, son of Abraham, Grandson of Hanchrist (Revolutionary War) Moved To TN in 1803, fought with his father and brother Reuben in the War of 1812. Moved to Illinois around 1815.

Isaac Carlock was 11 years of age in 1803 when his father led a large caravan from Virginia to Overton County Tenessee. Isaac was the oldest of 17 Carlock children, 8 of whom were born in Virginia. Including 2 sets of twins.

While in Tennessee, Isaac served twice, in the Indian Wars and War of 1812. His brother Reuben, 3 years his junior, served in the same regiments. His father Abraham also served in the War of 1812, and walked from TN to fight in the Battle of New Orleans.

Isaac served under Andrew Jackson in the Creek Indian War.

Isaac married a second time after coming to Illinois. He had 4 children by his first wife, her name and date of death is unknown. He would marry Mary "Polly" Brown, daughter of Jacob Brown, Feb 27th, 1831.

This was the year of the "deep snow". Thomas Davenport was detailed in obtaining the license in the then county seat of Decatur but was unable due to the rise in water from the snow. They were married at the cabin of her father and a license was later obtained.

Their marriage rites were the first to be solemnized in the county. They were married by Josiah Clinton.

The first murder trial in DeWitt County was in 1841. Spencer Turner was found not guilty of the murder of Matthew K Martin.

The lawyers for Spencer Turner were Stephen A Douglas and Abraham Lincoln.

Isaac Carlock was one of the 12 jurors.

Isaac and Polly had 5 children. He was a keen marksman, as were his brothers. Their father was well known for hunting bear.

It is thought Isaac had a government 1812 stone, but all that remains is the one that he shares with Polly.
