Nellie Marie Hensley Thomas, 82, of Hickory, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017.
Born February 18, 1935 in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late John Bascomb Hensley and Elvia Austin Hensley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Thomas; son, Ernest Jeff Thomas, Jr.; 4 brothers: Hobert, Kermit, Eli and Ray Hensley; and 2 sisters: Ocie H. Penland and Essie H. Boone.
Nellie was a member of Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of Senior Stars Sunday School Class. She had retired from Valdese Weavers.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Faulkenbury officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 2 – 3:00 p.m. at the church.
