James Herbert Sarratt, 91, formerly of 123 Hampshire Drive, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Peachtree Center.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Betty Parker Sarratt and son of the late Albert Sarratt and Blanche Harmon Sarratt.
He was a graduate of Clemson University, a U. S. Navy veteran and retired from farming and textiles. He was a past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, a life member of the Jaycees and a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Jeff Sarratt and wife, Tammy, of Gaffney; a daughter, Debbie Hall and husband, Mike, of Belton, S.C.; a brother, William Edward Sarratt and wife, Sadie, of Gaffney; a sister, Brenda Owensby and husband, Mike, of Spartanburg, S.C.; six grandchildren, B. J. Rogers and wife, Tina, Alan Sarratt, Amy Redmond and husband, Dennis, Jay Sarratt, Abbie Sarratt and Adam Sarratt; one step-granddaughter, Kim Jordan and husband, Jeremy; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Sarratt, a grandson, David (Buck) Rogers, and five sisters, Alberta Blackwood, Martha Blackwood, Mary Parris, Peggy Horne and Blanche Bagwell.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Cox and Dr. Scott Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342 or Providence Baptist Church, 822 Providence Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.
