Major Lee “Jimmy” Graybill, 83, Troutville, passed away in his home Saturday, September 16, 2017. Known by many friends and relatives as “Jimmy,” he was given this nickname by his brother Frank.

He is the last of 16 children born August 21, 1934 in Albemarle County to the late James Edward Graybill and Mary Eliza Orange.

In addition to his parents, brothers and sisters, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mandy Alice Jackson Graybill.

He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1953, served during the Korean Conflict with Platoon 438 of the Fourth Battalion, became a corporal and was later selected to guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery and later retired as a truck driver for Piedmont Foundry.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah (Kerry) Lee; son Jay (Michelle) Graybill; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be 11:00 am, Thursday, September 21 at Forest Chapel Cemetery.
