John was the son of William Stevens and Elizabeth Bitfield of Newbury, Mass. He m. at Newbury 9 March 1669/70 Mary CHASE, b. Newbury 3 Feb 1650/1, living in 1725, the daughter of Aquila Chase and Ann Wheeler. Sometime between about 1680 and 1685 John moved with his family from Newbury to Haverhill, Mass., where they spent the remainder of their lives. John's will, dated 15 Jan 1724/5, was proved 6 April 1725, naming his wife and living children. His children:
