VALENCIA, Calif. — Harold Lloyd Scheel, 93, of Valencia, Calif., passed away peacefully on Aug. 30, 2017.

He was born on April 14, 1924, in Grand Island to Harry and Lillie Baasch Scheel.


Harold graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1942. He married Fern Behrens in 1946. He worked on the family farm and later at Roberts Dairy and Berkeley Pump Company in Grand Island, before moving to California in 1962.

After the move to California, he worked for the City of Torrance as a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 1986. After retirement, he and Fern moved to the Victor Valley, where they resided until 2011, when they moved to Valencia to be closer to their daughter.


In retirement, Harold enjoyed spending time with family and friends, polka dancing and traveling. He and Fern enjoyed 70 wonderful years of marriage. They traveled widely throughout the United States in their RV. They were also able to visit Egypt, the Holy Land, Hawaii, Cancun, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.

He is survived by his wife, Fern; a son, Randall Scheel and his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Connie Scheel Sitar and her husband, Dennis; a brother-in-law, Bill Behrens; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered
