Paul L. Higgins passed away peacefully at his home in Union Bridge, Maryland on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the age of 69, after a two year battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his life.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Harriet of 40 years; son Dwayne Higgins and daughter in-law Julia (Fitze), grandchildren Jared, Caleb, Olivia, Justin and Joseph Higgins of Union Bridge, MD; daughter Michelle Mills of Hanover, PA, grandchildren Nicholle Lally (Kevin) of Lexington, KY and Christopher Mills of Hanover, PA and son Jason Higgins and granddaughter Catelyn Higgins of Las Vegas, NV; brothers Donald Higgins of Green Mountain, NC and Frank Higgins of Manchester, MD; sisters Aileen Robinson and Catherine Yingling of Westminster, MD, Delores Wagner of Bel Air, MD, Amelia Price of Myrtle Beach, SC and Hilda Robinson of Green Mountain, NC.
Paul is predeceased by brothers Rexter (RC) Higgins, Bernard Higgins and Lawrence Higgins. Paul was born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina in 1948 and grew up in Carroll County, Maryland. He worked as a master auto mechanic and machinist early in his career, but found his passion working with wood. He founded Maryland Horse Fencing and began a legacy of providing quality craftsmanship that is now in its third generation. Paul enjoyed working with his sons and grandchildren in the family business. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. His greatest love was following and teaching the word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Entombent will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.
