Susan was the daughter of Samuel A. Cornett and his fourth wife, Alcyan Couch. She was born around 1892 and died circa 1918. Susan is listed in the 1910 Perry census with her mother and siblings. The census has her listed as Susan Townsel, wife of Henry Townsel who is also in the household. According to the census, Henry was born in 1878 in Ky. and has married twice. Susan has a daughter who is listed as Annie Cornett and Henry is said to be the father of this child, No record has been found for Susan and Henry's marriage or any other records on Henry. He only shows up in this one record. Family members believe he may have been Henry Townsend.

There is a marriage record in Perry Co. for a Susan Cornett's marriage to Lacey Deaton (her sister’s brother-in-law) in 1913 in Perry Co. Susan died before the 1920 Census. Family story was that she was struck by a train while holding her youngest daughter, Sally Deaton and both were killed. The older daughter Annie Cornett was placed in the Witherspoon Orphanage at Buckhorn after Susan died. by her 'father'. Her middle daughter, Mary Elizabeth Deaton lived with her Deaton grandparents for awhile before going to live with her father when he remarried.

It is not known where Susan is buried. I am placing her memorial in the Alfred Couch Cemetery where her Deaton in-laws are buried.. At the cemetery there is one unknown adult Deaton and a infant Deaton, it is a very strong possibility that she is buried there.
