Sarah L. Yoakum, 92 of Girard, IL formerly of Thayer, IL, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Village, Girard, IL.
Sarah was born March 4, 1925 in Waverly, IL a daughter to Lincoln and Martha Rae (Cook) Smith. She married Jasper A. Yoakum July 20, 1957 in Lafayette, GA, and retired from Morton Metalcraft after 14 years. Sarah enjoyed working on her family trees: Chambers, Bristow and Yoakum and trips to the river and craft festivals with her siblings.
Sarah is survived by her sons, Don and (Michele) Raaen of Hiawassee, GA, and Harold (Debbie) Raaen of Young Harris, GA, daughter, Linda Fuhr of Pleasant Plains, IL, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother, Harold L. (Evelyn) Smith of Springfield, IL, step-son, Tom (Darlene) Yoakum of Auburn, IL, brother-in-law, Richard Palmer of Virden, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were her parents, her husband of 55 years Jasper A. Yoakum and her sisters, Florence M. Brown and Shirley Palmer.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL.
Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Chaplin Terry Link officiating.
Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery, Waverly, IL.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
