Actor. Born in London, England, he appeared in over 280 films during his career from 1911 to 1941. In 1900, he came to America, was educated at the University of California at Berkeley and became a naturalized citizen. At the age of 26, he became professional actor on the stage of the Majestic Theatre, San Francisco and was performing on Broadway by 1909. In 1911, he relocated back to the west coast and made his big screen debut in the western short reel "Mesguite's Gratitude". For the next three decades his many credits include "A Hospital Hoax" (1912), "The Dreamer" (1916), "The Man Without a Country" (1925), "Five Bad Men" (1935), "One Million B.C." (1940) and "King of Dodge City" (1941). He retired from acting in 1941 and lived in Los Angeles, California, until his death at age 74.
