John Bondurant, well known farmer of this community, died at his home near Lake of the Woods Friday evening following a heart attack. Mr. Bondurant was born near Bremen December 21, 1855, and was eighty-one years, three months and twenty-five days old at the time of his death. He was a son of Hercules A. and Elizabeth Bondurant and had spent his entire life in this community.
In 1877 he was united in marriage with Maria Shafer, who preceded him in death. In 1905 he was united in marriage with Mollie Eckert, who survives. He leaves also four sons, Delbert Bondurant of Bremen, Oliver Bondurant of Plymouth, H. E. Bonduarst [sic] of South Bend; three daughters, Mrs. William Heyde of Bremen, Mrs. E. C. Traver of South Bend, and Mrs. C. H. Ewald of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, William Bondurant of South Bend. There are seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two sons, Oscar and Ralph Bondurant, and one daughter Alma Bondurant, preceded their father in death.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock in Grace United Brethren Church. Rev. A. B. McKain officiating in the service. Burial was in the Huff Cemetery west of Bremen.
