Bondurant in Bremen, mother Bondurant, aged 75 years, 2 months and 17 days. Mother Bondurant's maiden name was Elizabeth Layton. She was born on Sept. 20, 1816, in Frankfort Co., Ky. On Dec 22, 1835 she was joined in marriage to H. A. Bondurant, who preceded her in death Oct 21, 1889. She is the mother of eleven children, seven sons and four daughters; four sons and on daughter still lives. She has 30 grand and four great grand children living. Father and mother Bondurant came to this township when the country was a wilderness and lived on their old home farm over forty-five years. Here they reared their family and in our neighborhood they worked hard, early and late together what they cold to make their children comfortable and happy. Not only did mother Bondurant raise her own children, but when some of her grand children lost their mother she took them to her home and bosom and gave them a mother's care -- Charley has often been heard to say "Grandmother was a true mother to me." She was a true mother, a good wife and a Christian neighbor. Her lot was such that she had but few opportunities, so far a church privileges are concerned, but when she had opportunities she took her place in religious society. Up to her last, in suffering and in ease, she confessed full faith and confidence in Christ. Her funeral was held in the U. B. Church here, conducted by Rev. D. C. Linville, of LaPaz, after which she was laid to beside her husband in the Huff cemetery.
