Mrs. Hinnant was born January 28, 1924 in Inman, S. C. and passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017. She was the daughter of the late, James Elijah and Louise Terrell Cothran.
She dedicated her life to nursing. She was the original Director of the LPN program at Midlands Technical College. She later established and secured accreditation for the nursing program at MTC where she retired the director of the LPN program and as faculty of the RN program.
Mrs. Hinnant is survived by her son, Reverend Thad Bryant Hinnant (Gail) of Lexington; daughter, Elizabeth Hinen (Neal) of Chapin; granddaughter, Jane Hinnant Goldie (Travis) of Lexington; grandsons Shaun Patrick Hinen (Hallie) of Charleston and Thomas Austin Hinen of Chapin; brothers, James Cothran of West Columbia and William Cothran of Inman.
She was preceded in death by, Thad Exum Hinnant and beloved daughter, Dr. Kathryn Louise Hinnant of New York.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kathryn Hinnant-Johnson Memorial Fellowship at the University of South Carolina Department Of Biological Science, 715 Sumter St. Columbia, S. C. 29208.
