He was buried in what was then known as the John Vaniman (his sister-in-law's father-in-law) Cemetery on Eaton Pike 6 miles west of Dayton. Cemetery eventually became the Bear Creek - Hilgrove Cemetery. In 2016, a readable stone for him could not be found in the oldest section of this cemetery.
