MUNCIE--Willis Eugene "Bill" Wood, passed away on Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2017, at Parker Health and Rehab in Parker.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1931 in Muncie, the son of Norval Nolan Wood, of Muncie, and Hildred Viola (Burton) Wood of Frankfort, KY. Bill graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1951 and married Frances Patricia "Pat" Asbury from Muncie, on Aug. 26, 1953. He served his country aboard the USS Quapaw in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 in Korea. Following his return from Korea, Bill worked for Warner Gear until his retirement in 1991.
Bill was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, enjoyed watching Little League World Series and walking down to the Triangle at five points for lunch with friends. He was a member of Selma Post 437 of the American Legion.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles; sisters, Mary Jo, Marcella and Nancy.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters, Kathy Jo, Kimberly Sue and Kelly Ann; step-daughter, Janet Roberts; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at Gardens of Memory on Monday at 11 a.m. Parson Mortuary is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name at your local animal shelter.
