Obituary for Wilma Brinegar

Wilma (Kirby) Brinegar, age 91 of Moulton, IA passed away peacefully August 20, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. She was born the daughter of Erca Kirby and Bessie (Adams) Kirby on February 7, 1926. She graduated from Udell High School in 1943. Wilma was united in marriage to Robert Brinegar on June 28, 1944 in Udell, IA. She farmed with her husband Robert for over 75 years on the same farm west of Moulton. She remained on the family farm until the end, where she was definitely still “the boss!” She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and everyone loved her famous donuts. She loved to go dancing and Robert would travel almost anywhere to take her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sons: Tommie Brinegar and Larry Brinegar; daughters: Phyllis Morlan and Shirley Schlotter; great grandchildren: Zachary Brinegar and Noah Stockton; brothers: Bert Kirby and Don Kirby; sisters: Betty (Kirby) Keep and Bonnie (Kirby) Davis and a son in law, Allen Morlan.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Patrick Brinegar of Moulton, IA, Greg Morlan of Cedar Rapids, IA, Shannon Boone (Scott) of Bloomfield, IA, Dawn Comer (Pete) of Lake Lotawana, MO, Sara Nicholson (Travis) of Platte City, MO, and James Schlotter of Liberty, MO; sister, Joann (Kirby) Replogle of Moulton, IA, brother, Jack (Hanna) Kirby of Bloomfield, IA; son in law, Bob Schlotter of Liberty, MO and daughter in law, Deanna Brinegar of Moulton, IA as well as 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville.
