It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the family and loved ones of Carole W. Tiner announce her passing on August 18, 2017, at the age of 82.

Carole Eileen Walter was born February 22, 1935 in New York. At age four, she moved with her family to Balboa, Panama, where she lived in the Panama Canal Zone for 10 years. Her family continued moving extensively after returning to the United States, and she attended many different schools throughout the country.

Carole met Fred Preston Tiner at Toms River High School in New Jersey. After a brief courtship, they were married August 20, 1954.

Carole worked for Lerner’s at the Cobb Center, the IRS, and finally retired from government service at the Office of Personnel Management. Carole and Fred enjoyed life after retirement on a quiet mountain in Ellijay, Georgia. Although she held many jobs over the years, her first love was that of being a wife, a mother, and a homemaker. Carole was well-known for her love of baking, and brought joy into family and friend’s lives through the love she baked into her cookies, cakes, and meals.

Carole is preceded in death by her parent, George H Walter and Mary Downey Walter, her brother Jack Walter of Atlanta, sister June Walter of Kennesaw and her true love Fred Preston Tiner.

Survivors include her daughters Kimberly Manley and her husband Rich Manley, Dawn Pharr and Shawn O’Rielly; grandchildren Josh McGrath and Stacey Post, Marcus McGrath, Lance Hayden and Anna-Claire Gibson, Dakota Pharr and Eugene Pellicio, Avery Hayden and Trey Tait. Carole also had one great-granddaughter, Paisley Pharr.

The funeral was held at Carmichael Funeral Homes followed by burial at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
