Virginia was born in Birmingham to Edith Benton White and Job Garner White.
She graduated from Gadsden High School and went on to work at the Anniston Army Depot and Redstone Arsenal.
It was while working at Redstone Arsenal that she met Bill Walker, who became her husband of 34 years in April of 1959.
Virginia and Bill were blessed with three daughters, Elaine, Lynn and Janet, and saw the arrival of three grandchildren before Bill's death in 1993.
Subsequent to Bill's death, Virginia enjoyed an active life of travel as well as the arrival of three additional grandchildren. In 2001, an old boyfriend from her youth showed up out of the blue, and they were married 6 months later. Virginia and Neal Jennings enjoyed 16 years of marriage before Virginia's passing.
Virginia was an active and faithful member of Huntsville First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Twickenham Study Club, and the Twickenham Town Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Neal Jennings; her three daughters, Elaine (Joe) Werner, Lynn (Tommy) Lewis and Janet (Matt) Davis; two sons, Robert (Kathy) Jennings and Andrew (Teresa) Jennings; seventeen grandchildren, Ashley (Daniel) Wood, Kate (Matt) Beidleman, Will (Alexandra) Lewis, Nolen Werner, Mary Davis, Ben Davis, Christine (Robert) Lucus, Taylor Jennings, Meredith Jennings, Bethany Jennings, Erica Jennings, Christopher Jennings, and Davis Jennings; and three great grandchildren, Robert, Carson, and Jasper Lucus.
She is also survived by her brother, J. Benton (Mary Lou) White of San Jose, CA; her sister-in-law, Linda Walker Worlund, and brothers-in-laws, Harold (Diane) Jennings, and Willie (Becky) Jennings; nephews and nieces, Tom (Julie) White, Matt (Elaine) White, Ken (Lowell) Adams, Roger Hammond, Dona (Steve) Tabb, Larry (Katrina) Worlund and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 19th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.
The Celebration of her Life will be Sunday, August 20th at 2:00 pm in the main Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church followed by a graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery.
