Dodge City-- Jerry A. Downey, 75, died Tuesday, August 15,2017 at the Minneola District Hospital, Minneola, KS.

He was born May 11, 1942 at Dodge City, the son of Michael W. and Nellie F. (O'Keefe) Downey. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Dodge City and was a graduate of Windthorst High School. He lived on the family farm, working in and out of the cattle industry his entire life. He enjoyed fishing and his family was very important to him.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.

Survivors include: 2 sisters, Norma Jean O'Brien, Ventura, California and Kathleen Konda, Dodge City; 2 sisters-in-laws, Leola Downey, Ford,Ks. and Elaine Downey, Dodge City,Ks.; and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

he was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Fr. Patrick Downey, Michael T. Downey, Thomas Downey, Brother David "Larry" Downey and Timothy Downey and 4 sisters, Helen Orth, Edith Downey, Lora Ann Thompson and Doris Downey.

Vigil service will be 7:00 pm Sunday, August 20,2017 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.
